Service Description

Design-Focused Experimental Mold-Blowing This 6-day experimental course will guide participants in designing and creating molds to enable small-scale glass production. Berlin-based designer and founder of Coordination Berlin, Flip Sellin, with lead the course over six Fridays from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, supported by the Berlin Glass Team, who will share their expertise, technical knowledge, and assistance throughout. A vegetarian lunch will be prepared daily by the tutors, technicians, and participants— costs are included! By the end of the sessions, participants will take home at least one self-designed, handcrafted glass object. Additionally, a studio setup will be available for capturing high-resolution photographs of the finished pieces—along with many great memories. This class is open for all levels! __________________________________________________________________________________ Preparation (Optional) If you decide to enroll, you may prepare by: Thinking of an object idea and gathering mood boards, examples, sketches, or an inspirational object for mold-blowing. Bringing sketching materials and a favorite vegetarian lunch recipe to share. Course Schedule Day One: Intense Intro & Inspiration Technical Introduction – Glass processes, possibilities, and parameters Design Introduction – Examples, experiments, and explorations Group Lunch – Prepared by Flip and the BG Team Design Session – Group discussions, sketching, maquettes, and collages Homework: Refine your idea and process. Day Two: Design Deep Dive Shaping Your Vision – Choosing the right mold method, group discussions, and one-on-ones Group Lunch – Cooking by participants 1 and 2 Mold Making (Session 1) – Preparing your object for casting using plaster, wood, metal, or other materials Day Three: Matter Manifests Matter Mold Making (Session 2) – Refining, multiplying, or redesigning mold preparations Group Lunch – Cooking by participants 3 and 4 First Blow-In Session / Parallel Mold Making Day Four: Hot Hope Hello Half-Day Blow-In Session Group Lunch – Cooking by participants 5 and 6 Afternoon Blow-In Session Day Five: Gaff, Giggle & Grind Morning Blow-In Session Coldworking and Refining Group Lunch – Cooking by Flip and the BG Team Studio Photography Session – Capturing high-quality images of finished objects Day Six: Finish, Food & Farewell Final Coldworking and Object Finishing Group Lunch – Cooking by Flip and the BG Team Final Photogr

Cancellation Policy

Your booking will be converted into a voucher that you can use for a future reservation. A cash refund is only possible for cancellations made at least 6 weeks before the start of the course.
